About the Platform
What is this platform about?
This is a collaborative space where people from diverse sectors come together to explore and build responsible AI solutions for social impact in India. It brings together use cases, inner/open-source tools, learning modules, knowledge repositories, and real-time challenges to spark innovation grounded in context.
Who is it for?
It’s for researchers, designers, technologists, nonprofits, policy thinkers, students, and community members — anyone curious about how AI can be used meaningfully for public good.
How is this platform different from others in the AI or social impact space?
We’re focused on bridging technology and lived experience — building an ecosystem that is open, locally rooted, and committed to ethical AI for the social sector.
Is this only for people based in India?
No, while our work is rooted in Indian contexts, we welcome participation and collaboration from global allies interested in responsible, inclusive AI.
Getting Involved
I’m a researcher/designer/developer — how can I contribute?
We welcome contributors! You email us and give us recommendations,co-create tools, share resources, or mentor participants.
Can I submit my own AI use case, challenge, or framework?
Yes, we encourage it. You can email guidance on how to frame your contribution at community.kiran@wadhwaniai.org.
Do I need technical knowledge to participate?
Not at all — we value diverse perspectives and provide learning resources to help everyone engage meaningfully.
Is there a cost to join or use the platform?
No, the platform is free to access. In the future some advanced workshops or partnerships may have limited seats or fees, which will be clearly indicated.
Learning & Resources
What kind of learning modules are available?
We offer accessible modules and learning material on responsible AI, ethics, human-centered design, and contextual tech building — with real-world case studies.
Are the resources free to use and share?
Yes- resources are free to use- reach out to us and we’d be happy to share them.
Models & Frameworks
What kind of AI models are housed here?
We host models built for education, healthcare, agriculture, and more — with a focus on transparency and relevance to the Indian context.
Can I access open-source code or documentation?
Yes, each model comes with associated documentation and code repositories, where applicable. For now we’re inner sourcing and are happy to hand over most code on a request basis.
How are these models validated for social impact?
We rely on MEL metrics, community feedback, field-testing, engineering benchmarking, and partnerships with domain experts to ensure relevance and robustness.
Can I contribute my own model or dataset?
Yes, and we encourage it. Contributions are reviewed for alignment with ethical and contextual guidelines- please put in requests on GitHub or email us at community.kiran@wadhwaniai.org.
